a) Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B): The individual must hold at least a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university or institution. b) Call to the Nigerian Bar: After obtaining the LL.B degree, the individual must be called to the Nigerian Bar. 2. Professional Registrations a) Registration with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA): Membership of the NBA is essential for practicing law in Nigeria. b) Optional Registration with the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV). 3. | 3. | ESTATE DEVELOPER | 1. Legal Requirements
a) Business Registration: i. Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC): The firm or individual must be registered with the CAC. 2. Tax Registration: a) Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS): Obtain a Tax Identification Number (TIN) and ensure compliance with federal tax regulations. b) State Internal Revenue Service: Register with KADIRS and comply with State tax requirements. 3. Professional Certifications and Registrations i. Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) ii. Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) iii. Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) iv. Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) v. Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) 5. a) Registration with the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) b) Registration with the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML) c) Registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). d) Compliance with Tax Laws and obtaining a Tax Identification Number (TIN). 2. Professional Requirements a) Education and Training (Optional): While there is no specific academic requirement to become a real estate agent, having a background in estate management, surveying, or related fields is an advantage. b) Knowledge of the Market: A good understanding of the real estate market in, including market trends, property values, and legal aspects of real estate transactions. c) Professional Conduct: Adhere to ethical standards and professional conduct. This includes honesty, transparency, and providing accurate information to clients. d) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). e) Affiliation with Professional Bodies: E.g., Nigerian Association of Real Estate Agents (NAREA), Association of Estate Agents in Nigeria (AEAN), Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN). f) Tax Clearence Certificate
