As a build-up to the commencement of the implementation of a major Gully erosion control project in some parts of Kaduna State,The Kaduna State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes(ACReSAL) team was in KADGIS today to seek for collaboration in the successful execution of the project.
The team under the leadership of the Project Coordinator in Kaduna State Hadiza Halid said this becomes necessary as KADGIS being an agency that has Valuation and Payment of Compensation as part of its mandate has an important role to play for the success of the project which is expected to commence by the end of next Month.
She added that some Households, farmlands and economic trees located along the erosion corridors would be affected during construction hence the needed collaboration with KADGIS in the payment of compensation.
Responding the DG KADGIS Dr Bashir Garba Ibrahim assured the team of rendering all necessary assistance for the realisation of this very important project which comes at a no better time than now.
He explained that for over thirty years previous Administrations in the State have failed to tackle this problem which has brought untold hardship to residents and has contributed to the environmental degradation of the communities.
He commended Governor Uba Sani for his foresight and people orientated style of governance over this giant initiative which will bring respite to these communities.
For the success of the project a team from KADGIS has been assigned to work with ACReSAL to be supervised by the Director Monitoring and Evaluation of KADGIS Mr Justin Ashio.
The affected communities are Kawo,Rigasa/Tudun Wada and parts of Zaria LGA with construction of about 40 km to be carried out.
