The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development on Thursday, 16th July 2026, presented the draft National Land Policy document to stakeholders during the 20th Africa International Housing Show held in Abuja.
The event, themed “Housing Solutions for Low-Income and Informal Workers in Africa,” brought together policymakers, land administrators, housing experts, development partners, and other key stakeholders to explore sustainable solutions to Nigeria’s housing challenges, particularly for low-income earners.
The Director General of the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, participated in the LAND’S DAY session of the event, where he joined other land administration experts in deliberating on the topic, “Land as a Tool for Affordable Housing for Low-Income Earners.”
Drawing from Kaduna State’s ongoing land administration reforms, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim shared valuable insights on the critical role of efficient land management, secure land tenure, and streamlined land administration in promoting affordable housing and sustainable urban development.
The stakeholders’ engagement also featured the presentation of the draft National Land Policy, with participants making inputs and recommendations aimed at strengthening the document before its final adoption.
The 20th Africa International Housing Show is expected to generate practical and innovative strategies that will help address the housing deficit and improve access to affordable housing for low-income and informal sector workers across Africa.
