
The Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim has received a delegation from the Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith led by the DG, Barr. Tahir Umar Tahir on a courtesy visit to the Service, to felicitate him on his appointment as the D.G KADGIS and seek for areas of collaboration to ensure that all places of worship get proper approval and validation from the Bureau before they are sited in any location of the state, this is to ensure coordination of religious centers in the state, promote harmonious coexistence in communities as well as peace and unity among communities across the state.
In his response to the delegation, Dr. Bashir commended the Bureau for the initiative for the visit as the relevance of collaboration between both agencies need not to be over emphasized. He assured them of getting the Bureau involved whenever any religious organization comes seeking for land allocation to situate their place of worship, to properly validate these centers, there by helping in ensuring that while exercising their right to freedom of worship, such individuals don’t violet other people’s right. He further explained that usually, whenever KADGIS is planning a new layout, provisions are made for churches and mosques hence, whenever such development comes up, the Interfaith Bureau will be involved to ascertain the nature of religious center or structures best to be situated there based on the peculiarities and characteristics of the various religious bodies common in the area.
Dr. Bashir also advised the team on the need for the Bureau to use various media to preach and teach people on the religious implication of lots of vices common in the society today like land grabbing, stealing peoples’ property documents and other land related crimes, drug addiction or any form of criminality to curtail them. The D.G of KADGIS was then presented a plaque by delegation.
The meeting also had in attendance the Director of Land Administration, EVS Umar Abubakar, the SA the Governor on Land Matters, Mal. Umar Ismail, the acting Director Monitoring, Evaluation and Research and other KADGIS staff.
