Another landmark achievement was recorded at KADGIS in the settlement of a long-standing land dispute involving Fulani settlers at Kangimi in Igabi Local Government Area.
In line with the directive of the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, KADGIS successfully facilitated a resolution by designating the settlements as G-Item, with a title covering 65 hectares officially handed over to the Local Government Authority. Copies of the title documents were also issued to the benefiting settlements and relevant security agencies to safeguard against future encroachment.
This milestone was made possible following the dereservation of the Kangimi Forest and is expected to continue in batches to accommodate other settlements. It was also emphasized that no investor or allottee should evict any existing settlement on an allocated land
With this significant achievement, it is anticipated that more investors will come forward with their titles to amicably resolve disputes with host communities and indigenes.
Representatives of the Local Government Authority described the event as the first of its kind and expressed hope that similar initiatives would be replicated in other areas to promote lasting peace.
Also speaking, the DPO of Rigachikun Division, CSP Magaji Musa Majiya, underscored the importance of dialogue in resolving disputes and urged stakeholders to always involve security agencies when necessary to prevent breakdown of law and order.
