The Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding the dangers of purchasing land from unauthorized individuals or groups. The agency described that such transactions are not only illegitimate but also carry a high risk of financial loss.
Engr. (Dr.) Bashir Garba Ibrahim, the Director General of KADGIS, made the clarification in an interview as a result of growing concerns over illegal allocation and sales of lands by entities not mandated by law to manage or allocate lands in Kaduna State.
He stressed that every legitimate land transaction must go through KADGIS, the statutory body tasked with land management in the state.
“No school premises have been designated as a layout for sale. Anyone who pays for land outside the officially recognized layouts is at risk of losing their money,” Dr. Bashir warned.
He specifically referenced government properties, such as the land within Government Commercial College, which have reportedly been targeted for unauthorized sales.
The KADGIS boss further urged residents to verify the legitimacy of any land allocation before making payments.
Dr. Bashir Ibrahim assured the public of his agency’s commitment to protecting the public from fraud and ensuring proper management of land resources across the state as well as to curbing illegal land dealings and safeguarding the interests of citizens.
