As part of ongoing efforts to resolve the Birnin Yero farmers’ conflict with investors allocated farmlands for large-scale agricultural activities, another stakeholders’ meeting was convened to identify farmers who had previously been assessed and to brief them on the latest developments regarding their farmlands and the planned allocation process.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, investors, and representatives of the affected farmers, to deliberate on the way forward.
Discussions focused on the proposed farm lease arrangement, with approximately 2,500 hectares of land identified for the exercise, as well as boundary issues relating to the investors’ farmlands. These clarifications are expected to ensure a transparent and equitable implementation of the resolution process.
As one of Kaduna State’s major agricultural hubs, it is hoped that the resolution of the Birnin Yero land issues will pave the way for the resumption of farming activities by the affected farmers while enabling investors to commence their agricultural projects. This outcome is expected to create a win-win situation for all parties involved and contribute to increased agricultural productivity and economic growth in the area.
