A government delegation from Kogi State today paid a working visit to Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) at the instance of the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to understudy the agency’s operations with a view to replicating its success story in Kogi State.
The delegation, led by the Auditor-General of Kogi State, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, expressed appreciation to KADGIS for the warm reception and the opportunity provided for the important visit. He explained that the study tour was aimed at gaining firsthand insight into the activities and achievements of KADGIS as Kogi State seeks to strengthen its Land Administration System, particularly in the area of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
According to him, after conducting a thorough assessment of land administration agencies across several states, Kaduna State emerged as a leading example. This informed the decision to visit KADGIS to acquire knowledge, guidance, and support on the workflow processes and best practices that have contributed to its success.
Also speaking during the visit, the Director-General of the Kogi State Land Bureau, Tpl. Kehinde Augustine Salihu-Otaru, emphasized that Kaduna State was chosen for the study tour because of the confidence Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has in KADGIS and its remarkable achievements. He noted that the Kogi State Government is eager to replicate similar successes in its own land administration system.
In his remarks, the Director-General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, warmly welcomed the delegation and thanked them for choosing Kaduna State as their destination for the study tour. He assured the visitors of KADGIS’ readiness to share its experiences and provide the necessary support to assist Kogi State in achieving its objectives.
Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim noted that KADGIS faced several challenges in the past and even after he assumed office as Director-General. However, he stressed that those challenges were not insurmountable and that significant progress has been recorded over the years. He highlighted several innovative programmes recently introduced by the agency, which are expected to further enhance revenue generation and improve the business environment within Kaduna State.
The Director-General also shared valuable insights and practical recommendations that could help position the Kogi State Land Bureau for greater success, especially considering Kogi State’s strategic location and proximity to the Federal Capital Territory.
As part of the visit, the delegation was taken on a comprehensive tour of all departments and units within KADGIS, providing them with firsthand knowledge of the agency’s operational processes and workflow systems.
